Personal and company workspaces
Switch between your personal workspace and a company in Nanabase, create a company workspace, join your company, and see what changes when you switch.
Nanabase has two kinds of workspace. Personal is yours alone: your private contacts and your personal card. A company workspace adds the company directory, the team and the company's settings. You can belong to several companies and switch between them at any time.
Switch workspace#
The workspace switcher sits at the top of the sidebar. It shows Personal, or the name of the company you are in.
- Click the switcher.
- Pick Personal, or a company under Companies. Each company shows your role there, such as Admin or Member.
If you have unsaved changes on the page, Nanabase asks before it switches.
What changes when you switch#

My Contacts is the same list in every workspace. Switching to a company does not show your private contacts to anyone. The share buttons on your contacts appear only while a company is selected, because sharing always goes to the selected company.
If you switch to Personal from a page that exists only in a company, such as Directory or Billing, Nanabase takes you to Home.
Create a company#
- Open the switcher and click Create company.
- In Create New Company, enter the Company name.
- Check the Workspace URL. It is filled in from the company name and ends in
.nanabase.co. Use 3 to 30 lowercase letters, numbers and hyphens, without a hyphen at the start or end. - Click Create Company.
You become the Owner of the new company. The company starts on the Free plan. See Billing.
The workspace URL cannot be changed later. Each account can create up to 2 companies. When you reach that limit, Create company shows 2/2 and is turned off. There is no limit on how many companies you can join.
Join your company#
- Open the switcher and click Join company.
- In Join a Company, enter a Colleague's work email and click Send Request.
You see one of these results:
- You're in. Your verified work email is on the company's domain and the company lets people join without approval, so you joined right away.
- Request submitted. An Owner or Admin has to approve you first. You get a notification when they do.
- You're already a member. Pick the company in the switcher.
Personal email domains such as Gmail never match a company. An Owner or Admin can also invite you by email. See Members and invites.
Manage your companies#
Manage companies in the switcher lists every company you belong to. To leave a company, go to Settings, then Danger zone, then Leave a company. An Owner has to make someone else the owner before leaving. See Members and invites.
Workspaces in nbTap#
The nbTap phone app has no workspace switcher. Company workspaces are managed in the web app.
